Falling Up

Thank you to all who joined us at La Boite Theatre for Amer Thabet’s play reading, a work in progress of his new full length play ‘Falling Up’.

Having arrived in Brisbane several years ago, Amm Thab began working on his autobiographic play which was first seen in La Boite’s The Neighbourhood 2020 followed by The Welcome 2021.

A born performer, Amer is recounting his real-life heroic journey from the start of the civil war in Syria whilst living as a young man in Damascus.

He studied acting at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, Syria. His independent theatre debut in Australia in 2019 was The Revisionist (Refraction Theatre) directed by Caroline Dunphy working alongside actors Kate Foy and Michael Mandalios.

Thank you to La Boite Theatre for the constant support through their Highway program. We’re thrilled to have Amer in our Mentorship Program and since meeting in 2019, are privileged to be on this important storytelling journey with him.
